The book of Romans receives high praise from Bible scholars. It is a meaty book to study and offers a strong balance of theological truth and practical application for living out one’s faith. Many people believe the apostle Paul wrote most clearly about the gospel of Jesus in Romans because he wasn’t addressing any specific concern or trouble as in his other letters.
Martin Luther said this about Romans: “It is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but also that he should occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread for the soul.” We do not plan to study or memorize Romans word for word. We do plan to give this foundational Bible book a good long look as we kick-off 2022. As we do so, we ask that God’s Spirit will build on the foundation of our personal faith and increase in us a desire and willingness to live out our faith in practical ways towards people around us.
