Pastor Tim walked us through Peter’s restoration on the beach, where Jesus met him beside a charcoal fire just days after the denial. Jesus didn’t wait for Peter to apologize or get his act together first. He offered grace on the spot and called him forward to feed his sheep. Justification is the forgiveness won on the cross, free and unearned, and God doesn’t want that gift left unopened. He calls us into sanctification too, the ongoing and sometimes uncomfortable work of being made holy and learning to forgive the way he forgave us.
