Drawing from John 21, Pastor Tim Niekerk walks through what happened between Jesus and Peter on the shore after the resurrection. When we fail, the instinct is to file ourselves under damaged goods and assume God is keeping score. Jesus meets Peter at a charcoal fire, the same kind of fire Peter stood beside when he denied him three times. He doesn’t use it to shame him. He asks three times, “Do you love me?” and hands Peter a calling in place of his guilt. Shame looks backward. Restoration looks forward. The work is finished, the debt is canceled, and there’s something for you to do today.
