Luke 4:39
So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
Peter’s mother-in-law was sick with a fever, unable to do anything for herself or others. When Jesus entered Peter’s house, He went to her, without question or delay, took her hand, lifted her, and the fever was removed. His response was personal and immediate, showing His compassion for suffering that may have seemed ordinary to others. As soon as the fever was removed, the woman began to serve them and Him, not out of obligation, but out of gratitude and restoration.
This miracle moment serves as a reminder that no matter where we are, no matter how dark or broken we may feel, He meets us exactly where we are. There is no requirement for us to be strong or productive before He acts; He simply comes close and heals.
Jesus does not wait for us to prove ourselves or fix our situations before extending His grace. He enters our lives as we are, even in moments of complete dependence.
In the same way, He doesn’t require us to be at our fullest; the woman had no obligation to start serving, but she did. She did it not because it was forced, but because she was healed and restored. When we are healed, He restores our minds, bodies, and souls with a purpose—a purpose to love, seek,
and serve Him.
This miracle was not displayed in a large gathering. It happened quietly, in a home, reminding us that Jesus cares about the simple, everyday sufferings. We do not walk the valleys alone. He is there beside us, as we are then ready to serve.
Pray with me…
Lord, thank You for meeting us where we are, no matter the challenges we face. Restore our hearts, minds, and bodies, and help us respond with gratitude and service. Help remind us that no struggle is too small for You and no valley too deep for Your presence. As we feel Your unwavering healing, guide us as we faithfully serve You and Your kingdom. Amen.
