March 16

Luke 17:15-16

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

No one will accuse me of having the loudest voice in the world. Yet, like the leper who returned to thank Jesus, I am praising God in a loud voice through this devotion as I share what I refer to as my “God Story.”

My husband, Kenneth, and I are in our 80’s. With so many years of memories, we can sometimes be forgetful. As a result, our daughters made appointments for us last summer to see a neurologist. The morning after my MRI, I received a call informing me that I was scheduled to see a different neurosurgeon who informed me that I had a large aneurysm in my brain. Further testing would be necessary to decide on what type of surgery would be recommended.

Ultimately, the surgery to place stents was set for September 19. On the day of the surgery, my dear family members—Kenneth, Shelley, Carrie, Darren, and Bonnie—were all there.

I don’t remember feeling fear but only peace as they wheeled me down the hall and into the lighted room. I was not worried as I could feel the prayers from family and friends. Like the miracle of Jesus calming the storm, I knew He was there with me.

After surgery, my surgeon said, “Looks like we did good! Sure am thankful for the YouTube training!” He told me less than ten percent of people survive and have zero mental deficits following this procedure. By God’s grace, I am one of those! So I’m returning to thank Jesus. May God help you do the same with your “God Stories.”

Pray with me…

Thank You, dear Jesus, for this miracle You performed. I also thank You for my family, church family and dear friends for their support and prayers. Please let my card ministry be a blessing to the Cancer Care folks and dear shut-ins who receive them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
