John 2:7-9

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.

The miracle at the wedding in Cana serves as a great reminder of how Jesus cares about the little things in our lives. When the wine ran out, it wasn’t a life-threatening situation; it was a moment of human want and potential shame. Mary’s simple instruction to the servants: “Do as He says,” is a perfect blueprint for our faith. Bringing our worries to Jesus transforms our limitations into overflowing blessings.

We often face moments in our own lives where our “wine” has run out. It could be our patience, determination, or motivation that has vanished. Wine seems so simple, but Jesus often uses the ordinary to display His grace.

When we stop worrying about how we can fix problems and focus on being obedient with what we have, we more easily recognize how God is transforming us.

To apply this story to our lives, we must look at the “water” we have on hand—the small resources and simple tasks—and offer them to Him. In John 2, the servants did as Jesus commanded, and we are called to do the same: keep showing up, serving, and praying.

Pray with me…

Dear God, thank You for being our Savior who meets us in moments of need. When I feel like my “wine” has run out, remind me to bring my empty jars to You. Thank You for taking the ordinary parts of life and turning them into something beautiful and overflowing. Amen.
